On behalf of all the soldiers in the field, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the moving contributions you gave us during the war. Your support came precisely at the moments when a sense of reinforcement and support was greatly needed. The gifts you sent - the tefillin, the gifts, the letters, the shirts and the coats - were not just items of equipment; They were gifts of hope and strength, giving us all a deep sense of connection and brotherhood across the ocean.
I wanted to share with you a special story we experienced with the tefillin you sent, which for us were a gift full of private supervision. One of the soldiers, a young man who was tense and stressed, discovered one day that his tefillin were left behind at the base, a long way from the battlefield where we were. That very day, just before we had to go on a dangerous activity, I arrived in the field with the tefillin you sent from the community in New Jersey. That soldier did not think twice, took a pair of tefillin and put it on with faith. This experience calmed him in a way that cannot be described in words. As if he experienced a moment of spiritual connection that gave him confidence and strength.
That evening, the soldier was saved by an explosive device a few meters away after leaving the trapped house.
Thanks to your support, even in the most difficult moments we felt that we were not alone. Your donations have given each of us new strength to continue to stand firm and defend the country. The knowledge that our brothers overseas, like you, stand with us and strengthen us in the most critical moments, is our true strength.
